RHINO & SPINY TAIL IGUANA





Rhinoceros Iguana & Spiny Tail Iguana
(Genus: Cyclura & Ctenosaura)

** Rhino and Green Iguanas should NOT be sold to just anyone who has not had experience with them.
** Both are aggressive and take up a lot of space in your home.

Housing: Depending upon its’ size, housing should be set up in either a tank or a homemade enclosure. Being terrestrial it needs to roam, not climb. Ideally, a large outside pen.

Terrain: Lots of branches. Plants to hide in.

Water: Medium Water Bowl or Pool-sized bowl for it to bathe in.

Floor Bedding: wire mesh or cypress mulch substrate

Heat: 80 - 95°
Cooling Spot: 70-75°
Lighting:
UV / UVB lighting (12-14 hours)
Humidity: 80%
Heat:
Infrared Heat Lamp (NIGHT TIME)

** 80- to 100-gallon glass terrarium or a framed, vented box measuring 4 feet long by 2 feet wide by 2 feet tall would be sufficient for a rhino up to 3 years old.
** NO heat pads or Heat Rocks
** Powder their food in Vitamin/D3

Feed:
Collard greens, mustard greens, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, dandelion greens, hibiscus leaves and flowers, green onions, spinach, green beans, zucchini, and frozen mixed vegetables.  Fruits should make up the remaining 20% of an iguanas diet.  Examples of ideal fruits are: Apples, bananas, strawberries, figs, peaches, mango, papaya, cantaloupe, grapes, blackberries, and blueberries. Hard-boiled eggs, and an occasional whole mouse sparingly.

Native: Mexico and Central America

15-25 years
Size:
10 - 12 inches
Feed: mixed greens, shredded carrots, mulberry and hibiscus leaves, and edible wild plants such as, clover, dandelions, greens and flowers. Seasonal fruit and vegetables can also be offered. Feed baby and juvenile spiny-tails the same as the adults, also give them some insects, particularly.
 
Housing: Provide necessary places to dig and climb (for Black tails)
