GREEN IGUANA






GREEN IGUANAS
(Genus: Iguana)

** Rhino and Green Iguanas should NOT be sold to just anyone who has not had experience with them.

** Both are aggressive and take up a lot of space in your home.

Housing: Depending upon its’ size, housing should be set up in either a tank or a homemade enclosure that is 2 – 3 times the length of your iguana, and no less than 3 times the height of your iguana since they are arboreal (tree climbing) lizards.

Terrain: Lots of branches or levels for it to climb. Plants to hide in.

Water: Medium Water Bowl or Pool-sized bowl for it to bathe in.

Floor Bedding: wire mesh or cypress mulch substrate

** Average adult iguana will end up being 5 to 7 feet in length.
** The cage should also be as tall as you can make it. 6 feet in height if not a full 8 feet in height. The cage should be no less than 3 feet deep, 5 or more feet deep is best.

Heat: 80 - 95°
 
Cooling Spot: 70-75°

Lighting:
UV / UVB lighting (12-14 hours)

Humidity: 80%

Heat:
Infrared Heat Lamp (NIGHT TIME)

** NO heat pads or Heat Rocks
** Powder their food in Vitamin/D3

Feed:
Dark leafy greens should make up the majority of the daily diet, including dandelion greens, kale, fresh parsley, mustard greens, arugula and other calcium rich leafy vegetables. Vegetables high in oxalates, such as calcium binding spinach, should be avoided. Small amounts of fruits such as berries can be offered on occasion or to entice your green iguana to eat. NO BUGS.
